BeAnywhere Support Express 6.00.9 BETA

Less than two months after the previous release, we bring you new versions of several modules of Support Express! Faster in Windows, with several stability updates and new features in Mac, more apps for Mobile devices including the much requested applet for iPhone/iPad you can find a little of everything this time.

ADMIN AREA

UPDATED
– Added information to session details: On the details of each session it is now possible to see if a request made with an Applet was canceled by the user or replaced by a new request while the session was paused or being transferred.
– Mandatory client surveys with more options: Helpdesk Center administrators now have the option to define more situations in which a mandatory client survey is displayed to the remote user.

WINDOWS MODULES

Console/Viewer

NEW
– Support for mobile configuration profiles: easily upload profiles to the new iOS Applet.

UPDATED
– Connect to Agents with a single click: use the middle mouse button or CTRL Click to immediately connect to your agents.
– Performance optimizations: This version is using Intel SSE instructions, which will increase the efficiency of the local drawing of the image, while slightly lowering the CPU load. Due to this change, the minimum CPU required for the console is now a Pentium III processor.
– Select Device when creating an Agent link: You can now select whether the remote Agent is a Mac or a Windows computer, thus receiving a different link.
– Small Fixes and tweaks: Idiomatic corrections; the screenshots now include the session number on the file name.

Agent

UPDATED
– Performance optimizations: in some specific situations, the performance in remote desktop could be increased up to 10%.
– Increased keyboard compatibility with mobile consoles: corrected situations in which the characters were not correctly sent when using a mobile console.
– Bug corrections: Corrected a rare issue which could occur when using multiple monitors; optimized the communication with BeAnywhere’s infrastructure.

Applet

Note – Contrary to the other Windows modules, this applet was thoroughly tested and certified production ready. It is live for a couple of days, with hundreds of thousands sessions already performed to attest its rock solid stability.

– Warning when re-using the applet: If a user tries to run the same applet on two or more concurrent requests, the last request created will cancel all the previous pending requests. A customizable message is now displayed to the client when this situation occurs.
– Small Fixes and tweaks: Idiomatic corrections.

MAC MODULES

Console/Viewer

NEW
– View the remote mouse: It is now possible to view the remote mouse cursor the same way as in the Windows Console.
– Create requests for specific queues: Technicians can now select to which queue a new support request is generated.
– Added support for CAPS LOCK and ALT R: These two keys were not working on the previous version of the console. This was fixed.

UPDATED
– Bug Corrections: Fixed a situation where the elevation of a remote applet sometimes caused the console to crash; the console does not try to reconnect anymore when the remote user closes the applet; fixed clipboard synchronization issues when copying/pasting to a remote machine; solved a problem when multiple instances of the console were allowed to run; corrected language and graphical problems.

Applet

NEW
– Automatic Update: The applet now warns the user that a new version is available for download.

UPDATED
– Added support for CAPS LOCK and ALT R: These two keys were not working on the previous version of the console. This was fixed.
– Corrections in Restart and Reconnect: Corrected an issue with the removal of the background; fixed a situation where special characters in the user or credentials would not allow the technician or the client to insert the correct username and password for the reconnect with auto logon feature.
– Fixed issues with elevation: The elevation could fail if username or password of the remote user contained special characters. This was fixed.

Agent

UPDATED
– Fixed bug with fast user switching: Sometimes the capture of the remote screen become unstable when using fast user switching. This was fixed.
– Increased stability: The previous versions of the Agent could occasionally have trouble in accepting remote connections. A module of the software was rewritten and revised to assure those kind of situations do not repeat.
– Added support for CAPS LOCK and ALT R: These two keys were not working on the previous version of the console. This was fixed.

MOBILE APPS

Launching BETA Applet for iOS!
The new Applet (still in BETA) allows you to provide support to iPad and iPhone devices with ease! Chat with your clients, view screenshots and upload configuration profiles.
– View the video from both cameras: select the device camera as you select a monitor when connecting to a PC or Mac computer.
– Ask the user for a screenshot, using the Remote Control tab.
– Send and receive files to the private storage area of the Applet (the user can also create files there).
– Upload configuration profiles with ease, setting up e-mail, wireless configurations, etc.
– Chat with users in real time.

New BETA Consoles for Android and iOS

We published new versions of the console on both stores earlier this week, correcting more than 30 small bugs and tweaking inefficiencies detected. The compatibility with foreign remote keyboards was also increased.

SOON New BETA Console for Windows Mobile

A new console for Windows Mobile 8.1 devices was this week submitted for approval. The first version does support connection to Agents and it is Remote Control-only (chat, system information and other modules will be added later). We will continue to work on new features and stability updates on the next weeks, according to the feedback from our community of users. We will announce it when is publically available on the store, but for now, here are some nice screenshots of it!
